Fitness has become a passion and a lifestyle for me; I have one man to thank for that, Wesley Wood. I began to train with Wes about 3 years ago, and I was exposed to so many different style of fitness and health that I never knew of. Muscle Building and strength training workouts were all I ever did and loved doing before. It took one session of training with Wes before I discovered I no longer enjoyed strength training. Wes pressed me to train harder then ever before and with an encyclopedia of fitness knowledge and motivation at your side every set results come fast.
Wes also had me on a balanced routine of fitness including muscular strength workouts, muscle endurance workouts, and cardiovascular training. Every day I’d leave the gym in pain and exhausted, but feeling great! I was constantly pushed to my limits and would see the results each week. Nutrition and diet were two words that did not exist in my vocabulary. Wes stressed the importance of a balanced diet as he continued to educate me and harass me daily to ensure that my diet was up to par.
Every year as Spring rolls around I look forward to Wes and Mariko’s Military Boot Camp. I’ve never experienced such a unique and difficult style of training before. Wes and Mariko were able to motivate me beyond my own mental capabilities and for me that is what I look for most in a trainer; someone who is able to bring you beyond mental exhaustion and bring the best out of you. Whether it be weight training with Wes or Boot Camp with Wes and Mariko I can count on being forced to use every last ounce of strength I have. There is never a day off, if you’re at the gym, be ready to train with all you’ve got. My results and my fitness lifestyle are direct results of training with Wes and Mariko.
I was recently engaged and new years was right around the corner. I was overweight, unhealthy, depressed, always tired and not happy. I hated the way I felt and definitely didn't want to feel like that when I got married. So my new years resolution was simple, loose weight, be healthy, have energy and to be happy.
That's where Wesley came in. In February 2010 we started training and I was 209 lbs. It was tough to get through the first couple weeks and there were some melt downs and some days I just didn't think I had it in me. Fortunately Wesley kept me going. During the summer he had me training 5 days a week doing boot camp, training, running and a variety of classes. He definitely pushed me really hard and made me do better than I ever thought I was capable of doing.
When I started boot camp in June I couldn't make it over the 5 foot wall let alone attempt the 8 foot wall. By the end of July, I was able to get over the 5 foot wall easily and (even though me and heights don't always agree) I did make it over the 8 foot wall several times. We would run 2.5 km down the road twice every session and every time I finished my time got better and better. On July 31st 2010, I finished my first 5 km race in 31:34.
After a long illness and many extra pounds I decided exercise could be worth a try! I joined a gym almost 3 years ago, I walked in with the expectation that as soon as I signed up I would automatically drop 10 pounds, much to my surprise it would involve actually exercising! I hired over a year and half a couple of different trainers and spent countless dollars and hours training one on one or in different training groups they had organized, while it was beneficial my expectations became less and less. I was at the point where I was wondering what my next step would be and I was starting to become really discouraged. Our group trainer had suddenly left our group and Wes and Mariko were approached to take over and get us through the final sessions left owing to us, it took me one session with the two of them to realize I had hit gold!
I finally had my mojo back, we talked about my goals and how we were going to achieve them. With two other people in my group we started training four days and week, two days with Mariko and two days with Wes, I cannot even begin to explain how quickly I started seeing results! Wes and Mariko are two of the best trainers I have worked with, not only are they knowledgeable they are passionate about their jobs as both fitness trainers and life coaches.
I am now working with Wes on a one-on-one basis, not only has he become as good friend he has become a mentor for me. One month ago we entered our first triathlon (I did the try-a-try), it was such a rush that 3 weeks later my husband and I ran 5km and are already looking for our next one.
Have a great day!

Thanks to Mariko and Wes for increasing my lactate threshold. I could never train this intensely on my own. As a result of their program my body fatigues less quickly when running and biking.t out. Never have I scaled walls, done a leopard crawl , pushed/pulled a tire through sand, pulled myself along a rope upside down, done countless pull-ups (which for me is the "cadillac" of upper body training) etc. The exercises are fascinating and tough.
“We are where we are by the Choices we make.” My name is Lorraine McCabe and I have known Mariko for about five years and have been training with her for two years. I have lost 10 lbs plus inches and I feel wonderful. Thank you Mariko for all you give of your time and talents to those of us who are willing to make the Choice to have a healthy body, mind and spirit. If you want a Personal Trainer with a great attitude – call Mariko! If you want a Personal Trainer with a great personality – call Mariko! If you want a Personal Trainer who is skilled and knowledgeable – call Mariko! If you want a Personal Trainer who encourages you to stretch – call Mariko! I wish you health in the Choices you make.
I am a Paramedic in the Ottawa region and a mother of four beautiful children. I had the opportunity to train with Wes in 2009, while getting ready for the National Capital Classic Fitness Competition. Over those six months he was extremely dedicated to my training and created a very new and dynamic program for me.
Before I met Wesley Wood at Sculpt Conditioning, I was approaching 50 with the outlook of life-long health problems to come. I found myself unfit, unhealthy and struggling just to get through the day-to-day routines in my life. Like most people, I had taken for granted the gift of good health and fitness that was afforded me in my younger days. I neglected to take care of my health in those early years and that neglect had finally caught up with me. But all that has since changed.
This past year with Wes has been a journey that I will never forget. At first, Wes helped me identify my fitness goals. He then helped me identify several obstacles that were preventing me from reaching those goals. They ranged from poor nutrition, unknown health issues (that were finally identified) and low self-esteem to name a few. Wes was there to help me work through them all.
Today I enjoy more energy, improved health and a better mind-set. This year I ran 5 km in the Army Run, 5 km in the Run for the Cure and a half-marathon in the 9-Run-Run race in Stittsville. I am so grateful to have been able to participate in these events this year. These were but mere dreams a year ago.
This year I am part of a relay team that is running in the Sinister Seven Ultra + Relay. My part of the relay is to run 32 km. Thanks to Wes, I can actually do this – they are dreams no more.
Wes helped me achieve more in one year than I had in the last thirty. He gave me back that gift of good health and fitness which I thought was lost long ago. Along with that gift came my self-respect and one other thing that I was not expecting ... hope for a healthy and better future. Approaching 50 just got a whole lot better.
As a trainer, coach and motivator, Wes is truly making his mark in the fitness world. But the mark he has made on the lives of those he has helped over the years is beyond all measure. For me and those I have met at Sculpt Conditioning, Wes has earned more than our gratitude; he has our devotion and our respect. It is rare to find a trainer who is good at what they do, but it is rarer still to find one like Wes who is truly great at it.
